Minimum and Maximum Requirements for Circular Loom Fabric Weight (GSM)



1. Minimum GSM


Using 100% virgin PP material, we have successfully produced fabrics with a GSM as low as 35 g/m².


Using recycled PP material, we have successfully produced fabrics with a GSM as low as 32 g/m².


However, the quality of recycled materials varies greatly. If the quality of the recycled material is poor, the actual minimum GSM should be tested by the customer, as weaving performance depends on the quality of the material itself.


2. Recommended GSM Range for the Same Machine


We do not recommend using the same machine to produce fabrics of 40 g/m² and 140 g/m².


Excessive GSM variation may cause some specifications to operate unstably or produce fabrics of unsatisfactory quality.


For optimal performance, we recommend keeping the GSM variation within 50 g/m².


For example:


One machine: 35–85 g/m²


Another machine: 86–135 g/m²


This allows each machine to operate more efficiently and produce more consistent fabric quality.


3. Maximum Weight


If the customer primarily produces high-weight fabrics, the machine should be equipped with a higher configuration, such as a larger motor and reinforced components.


This will slightly increase the machine cost, but ensure stable operation when producing higher weights.


Generally, for fabrics with a weight exceeding 50 g/m², it is recommended to add additional devices or use a reinforced configuration-----Warp Tension Equalizer:

Automatically balances the tension of each warp yarn to prevent uneven   tightness, ensuring stable weaving and consistent  fabric quality.

Warp End Detection Device:

Automatically detects yarn exhaustion and triggers a machine stop or alarm to prevent warp breakage, fabric waste, and equipment damage.


4. Appropriate Configuration is More Important than Higher Configuration


A higher configuration is not always better.


If a machine equipped with a high-power motor is mainly used for producing low weights, excessive tension may lead to frequent breakage and increase the difficulty of machine operation.


Therefore, the machine configuration should be selected based on the customer's main production range, rather than simply choosing the highest specification.


5. Our Advantages


The advantage of our circular looms is that each machine is designed for a specific production range.


Instead of using a single machine to cover an excessively wide range of weights, we recommend the most suitable configuration based on the customer's product. This ensures simpler operation, more stable production, better fabric quality, and reduced tape breaks.
